Fractured Online, a sandbox MMORPG, recently returned to early access and has been met with mixed reactions from players. The game’s developers, Dynamight Studios, released a patch addressing several issues. This patch fulfilled the “#1 player request” by stopping attacks from canceling a spell cast. It also added protection from monsters when players enter a patch of owned land and fixed bugs related to packaging stations, the in-game store button, and crafting station access on owned land.
The game faced a technical issue over the weekend that led to an emergency restart of the human continent. This was due to processes controlling a portion of the world losing their connection, resulting in a server reset and a rollback of up to 10 minutes from the moment players were disconnected. Fortunately, this rollback didn’t seem to cause significant player grievances.
Player reactions to these developments have been varied. On Steam, Fractured Online currently holds a “Mixed” user review aggregate. Some players are praising it as a hidden gem, while others are less enthusiastic, with some accusing Dynamight of running a scam. On Reddit, discussions are a mix of players seeking advice and others expressing disappointment, feeling that the sandbox game is missing the mark.
